PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — At the May 22 meeting, city staff updated the Historic Preservation Advisory Board on City Hall renovation work: the roof scope for the entire building is out to bid and will close June 2, and Public Works provided a cost estimate of $3,400,000 for the historic portion of the building.
Danielle Burhouse, senior project manager for urban design, told the board the next step after bids close would be development of a refined scope and a professional opinion of probable cost. Public Works’ Ron Everts provided the $3.4 million estimate for the historic portion. Burhouse said Public Works is also assessing mold and mildew remediation needs in the old council chamber (the 1978 portion) but did not provide a dollar estimate or completion date; she said Public Works would update the board next month.
Board members asked whether costs and scope to return council chambers to active use were included; Burhouse said those numbers are not yet available and that mold remediation and the roof-scope results would inform future estimates.
No formal decisions were made; staff reported the procurement timeline and said they will return with cost and schedule updates.
