Three appeals withdrawn after zoning official releases owners from violation notice

CHARLESTOWN — At its May 20 meeting the Town of Charlestown Zoning Board of Review recorded the withdrawal of appeal 1656 and said appeals 1657 and 1658 also were withdrawn by the applicants.
The board chair said appeal 1656 had been withdrawn because the building/zoning official released the owners from notice of violation No. 02-25, dated April 7. The chair added that the other two appeals were withdrawn by the applicants’ attorneys and that those matters did not require further board action.
Town staff clarified that, while the release was filed with the board, the underlying notices of violation remain in the town’s records and that enforcement of those matters is not under the zoning board’s jurisdiction. A staff member stated, “Those notices of violation, yes, are still in place,” and reiterated that enforcement would proceed through the appropriate enforcement authority outside the zoning board.
The board accepted the withdrawals and moved to adjourn after completing its docket for the evening.
