Irrigation project for golf course remains with town; conservation restriction requires town-written notice

Committee members discussed the conservation restriction (CR) that co-holds rights with the conservation commission. Because the CR is co-held, the committee was told that an official notice must originate from an authorized municipal representative rather than only from the conservation commission or from third parties. Participants identified Mark Purple and the town’s select administrative contacts and suggested follow-up meetings or emails to clarify which town office will submit the formal notice.
The committee agreed to pursue an in-person meeting with town staff to clarify the chain of command and who can submit CR notices. Members said the SVT and the conservation commission should receive copies of any town notice for review and that wetland permitting remains a separate process from the CR notice and approval.
No formal vote was taken; the committee asked members to follow up directly with town staff and with SVT to secure the written notice the SVT representative requested.
