The Jasper City Council on May 20 formally published a required notice that the municipal election will be held on Aug. 22, 2025, for mayor and council seats for Districts 1–5. In the event no candidate receives a majority, a runoff election is scheduled for Sept. 23, 2025. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jasper Civic Center, 204 Nineteenth Street East, Jasper, Alabama.
The notice said qualifying to run for office will begin at 8 a.m. June 10, 2025, and end at 5 p.m. on June 24, 2025, with filing to be completed at the Jasper City Clerk’s office. The notice cited the city’s ordinance on qualifying fees and stated the filing fee is $50 for mayor and council members under Ordinance No. 1992-333.
Council members asked about voter notification and whether the city would mail cards showing district and polling location. Kathy (city staff) said, "I'm not required to by law but we can certainly do that," and council members agreed to provide signage at polling locations on election day so voters who do not receive mailed notices can confirm the site.
City staff will publish the notice as required and follow up on local voter notification options.
