At its May 20 meeting the Florence Town Council approved several procurement and contract items covering wastewater plant repairs, park improvements, plan‑review services and event production.
Wastewater: The council authorized a contract with United Rentals not to exceed $252,122.84 to repair the emergency backup generator at the South Wastewater Treatment Plant. Separately, the council approved Amaresco change order No. 4 (not to exceed $131,487) to modify blower motors to inverter‑duty units at the same plant.
Parks and trails: Council approved a cooperative use contract with Infinity Material Solutions (Affinity Material Solutions LLC in motion language) not to exceed $63,742.76 for road and walking‑path enhancements at Memorial Park and Heritage Park. Staff described the walking path at Heritage Park as the decomposed‑granite perimeter path and confirmed work will focus on path and road improvements.
Plan review and events: The council approved an addendum (task order) with Willden Engineering to continue plan‑review services for an additional one‑year period, not to exceed $149,500. The council also approved entering a five‑year agreement with 5 20 Events LLC to provide stage, sound and lighting equipment and services for FreedomFest at a total cost not to exceed $58,610.75.
Why it matters: The generator and blower‑motor approvals address critical wastewater infrastructure and reduce operational risk. The park and path contract supports visitor amenities and planned park improvements. The multi‑year event contract provides continuity for a recurring town festival while the plan‑review extension maintains review capacity during a busy development period.
Board action: Each item was presented with an RCA (report and recommended action), moved, seconded and approved by unanimous vote. Staff noted the generator and blower work are budgeted; the event contract is included in the town’s annual budget for festivities.
Implementation: Departments responsible for finance, public works and parks will execute the contracts and monitor delivery; plan‑review staffing will continue under the Willden Engineering task order for a year.
