The Jasper City Council on May 20 adopted an ordinance rezoning 54 parcels to reflect current use and introduced a second ordinance to rezone an additional group of parcels as part of a multi-step zoning map correction project.
City staff said the first adoption implements changes previously introduced and that the updates correct errors after the city’s zoning map was posted online; no changes in on-the-ground land use were expected. "Council, you remember at our last meeting you introduced an ordinance rezoning 54 parcels from MR, Municipal Reserve, to the zoning district, R1 or M1, which is current use... all we're doing is updating and correcting issues with our zoning map that has recently been put online. So, nothing changed for any of these, but this is asking you to actually adopt the ordinance introduced at last meeting," a city staff member said.
Staff then introduced a second ordinance in the series to rezone about 54 more parcels; the planning commission had approved the recommendation and the item was introduced for consideration at a future meeting.
