Missoula commissioners approve five property annexations into Missoula Rural Fire District

Missoula County commissioners approved five petitions to annex separate parcels into the Missoula Rural Fire District following a presentation from the Clerk and Recorder’s office.

Anna Sharoke, property records specialist with the Missoula County Clerk and Recorder's office, told commissioners the five petitions were submitted and certified as valid. She said the petitions were signed by property owners representing at least 40% of the acreage and at least 40% of the taxable value of the property to be annexed and that notice of the hearing was published twice in the Missoulian. The parcels were described by survey and physical addresses as presented to the board and may be approved in bulk with a single motion, Sharoke said.

The parcels described in the hearing record include: a tract A of Certificate of Survey 5607 (6401 Larch Canyon Road, Missoula); a parcel on Galbivy Drive (3450 Galbivy Drive, Missoula); Lot 3 of Certificate of Survey 6900 (3007 Larchkamp Road, Missoula); Tract 3E of Certificate of Survey 1690 (5349 Arnica Road, Missoula); and a portion of the Southwest quarter of the Southeast quarter of Section 20, Township 12, Range 22 (28297 Highway 12 West, Lolo). Sharoke said the Missoula Rural Fire District had reviewed the properties.

A motion to approve the annexations was made and seconded at the meeting; the motion passed by voice vote with all in favor. Commissioners did not record additional conditions during the public hearing.

The annexations were presented as separate petitions but acted on together; the Clerk and Recorder’s office certified the petitions and confirmed publication and property owner notice had been completed.

No substantive public comment opposing the annexations was recorded during the hearing.

The county will proceed with processing the annexations per the Clerk and Recorder's certified petitions and applicable fire district procedures.
