Lieutenant Jeremy Lay of the Jasper Police Department told the council that his investigation found the applicant had met "all the requirements of state law and city ordinances," and that the police department had no objections to the application. "They have applied for a restaurant veil liquor license. During my investigation, I've discovered that they've met all the requirements of state law and city ordinances, and the police department does not have any objections to this application," Lay said.
No members of the public came forward to speak on the application. A council member moved to approve the license and the motion carried with all members present voting in favor.
The license approval means the business may proceed with final city licensing steps and state-required filings before selling alcohol. The council record shows the police department’s signoff was central to the council’s decision.
