T.J. Cusick recommended and the Worthington City Board of Education approved a memorandum of agreement with the district’s classified union to adjust the pay range for payroll associates, a step the treasurer said is intended to help retain staff after the district lost several payroll employees to neighboring districts.
Cusick told the board on July 22 that the district “has fallen behind our surrounding school districts in this category and we’ve lost a few payroll people over the last several years.” The MOA was presented as an agenda item and carried on a recorded vote.
Cusick also reviewed recent legislation that will affect district operations. He said House Bill 147 requires that student ticket prices at athletic events be lower than adult prices; the district already set ticket prices in June, does not charge Worthington students in grades 6–12, and intends to create a visiting‑student price if needed. He noted the Ohio Capital Conference has also recommended the district consider a general price increase to offset rising official/referee costs.
On Senate Bill 91, Cusick said the law updates fraud training requirements: “All public employees including our five elected public officials must complete [fraud training] by November 29,” and then every four years thereafter. He described the training as roughly a seven‑minute video and said the district’s Public School Works partner is expected to roll it out.
Cusick also said he circulated a commercial paper report required by Ohio Revised Code that aggregates the district’s investments over the past year for the board’s records.
The MOA vote was recorded as approved; no board member comments opposing the item were recorded.
