Fairborn City School Board elects officers, approves committee appointments and finance authorizations

The Fairborn City School Board voted Jan. 9 to elect Tim Steininger president and Katie Barat vice president and approved a series of organizational appointments, legal counsel designations and finance authorizations.
The actions establish leadership and formal liaisons for 2025. The board also set regular meetings for 2025 to be held the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the high school and approved a list of committee and delegate appointments, including representatives to the athletic council and Hall of Honor committees.
During the meeting the board approved naming Becker and Heckler (and others listed on the agenda) as legal counsel, granted authorization for certain treasury functions and approved routine school finance resolutions from the treasurer’s office. The board also declared certain district vehicles, including buses, as surplus; accepted donations and gifts listed on the agenda; and approved a retirement resolution for Linda Barr, a first-grade teacher at Fairborn Primary retiring effective May 31 after 34 years in education (32 with Fairborn City Schools).
All motions recorded on the agenda were moved, seconded and passed by roll call vote. Board members who participated in roll calls called themselves present at the start of the meeting; roll-call results for the listed motions were recorded as affirmative by all members present.
