Road and Bridge reports storm damage to county solid-waste transfer station; insurance contacted

Eric Sandberg of Road and Bridge informed the Miami County Commission on May 21 that recent storms caused significant wind damage to the county solid-waste transfer station, including torn tracks, damaged overhead motors and a missing panel of metal wall.
Sandberg said crews estimated winds of about 75–80 mph and removed hanging garage doors to eliminate safety hazards. The county has contacted its insurance carrier and expected an adjuster to inspect the damage the following morning; the department is also seeking a priced proposal for heavier wind-rated overhead doors to replace damaged units.
Why it matters: Damage forced temporary removal of unsafe doors and could require replacement of door tracks, motors and wall panels; the county will work with insurance and vendors on repairs and cost estimates.
Sandberg said the department is working to secure the facility and will provide updates to the commission as insurers and contractors respond.
