Worthington Board elects Kelly Davis president, names Amber Eppling Skinner vice president and adopts 2025 organizational calendar

The nominations came during the board’s organizational session. Nikki Hudson, serving as president pro tem at the start of the meeting, nominated Kelly Davis for president; the board then voted to elect Davis. Later in the meeting Amber Eppling Skinner was nominated and elected vice president.
The action completed the board’s annual leadership organizing and was followed by a series of housekeeping motions to set the board’s calendar, committee assignments and external appointments for 2025. The board approved the regular meeting dates, times and places for 2025, confirmed membership in district and community organizations for the year and appointed board representatives to standing committees and outside boards.
Board members took the votes by roll call. The election of Davis and Eppling Skinner passed without recorded negative votes. The board also voted to recess the organizational session and open the regular business portion of the meeting later the same evening.
In other organizational business the board announced committee assignments for both calendar-year and school-year committee cycles, and created a new Safety Committee that will begin immediately and continue into the school-year calendar. The policy committee membership was set with Stephanie Harless and Nikki Hudson named as members.
The board approved a list of memberships and annual resolutions; one item—the district membership in the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce—carried one abstention. Board member Jennifer Best stated she would abstain from that vote because she works for the Chamber; the motion nonetheless passed.
The organizational meeting closed after the votes and the board recessed until the regular business meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Board members present throughout the organizational session included Kelly Davis, Amber Eppling Skinner, Nikki Hudson, Stephanie Harless, Jennifer Best and Treasurer T.J. Cusick, and Superintendent Dr. Trent Bowers led the administration’s reports during the regular meeting that followed.
