District adopts physical‑science materials, expands summer curriculum work; Indian Trail pilots All Kids Bike program

Separately, the personnel section of the superintendent’s recommendations included approval of additional days and summer curriculum work for curriculum supervisors Ayesha Collier and Julie Miller to develop curriculum maps and pacing guides for new curriculum adoptions; staff described the work as aligning new curriculum materials with classroom schedules.
Why it matters: the textbook selection and assigned summer work are steps in classroom implementation of new curricula. Trustees noted these actions are intended to prepare teachers and materials for the 2025–26 school year.
Indian Trail presentation: earlier in the meeting Indian Trail staff described a pilot program, All Kids Bike, run through physical education. The principal said the pilot taught kindergarten and first‑grade students helmet safety, balance and gliding techniques (bikes initially introduced without pedals to teach balance) and culminated in a hallway parade. The principal said the pilot was funded by community and business donations and local PTA organizations and that all elementary schools in the district will run the program so all kindergarten and first‑grade students will receive instruction.
Board action: motions to approve the textbook selection and the personnel recommendations (including summer curriculum work and extended days for curriculum supervisors) were moved and approved by roll call.
