McPherson County commissioners approved spending for two vertical-carousel retriever systems to replace aging equipment in the clerk and appraiser offices and to install them in the county’s renovated bank building.
Holly (clerk office) and Stacy Hubbard, county appraiser, explained the existing units dated from 1982 and that the bank building’s layout requires new equipment. Vendors provided quotes; the board approved purchase prices not to exceed $49,629.57 for the clerk’s unit and $50,277.35 for the appraiser’s unit. The motion includes a five-year warranty and freight for each machine; staff said the vendor offered a discount if both units ship together.
County staff said the equipment purchase will be funded from the county’s building/equipment fund tied to the new county building project, and that the vendor will work with the contractor to place and install the units. Commissioners approved the purchase by motion and vote.
The clerk’s office noted the maintenance contract is preventive maintenance and that replacement parts would be purchased if failures occur outside the contract. Vendors estimated lead times for manufacture and delivery; staff said the vendor will coordinate installation logistics with the building contractor.
