Mister Nguyen presented the agreement, saying it would provide teacher and student identifiers for participating schools. President Yarbrough asked whether the MOU had changed since the last review; staff said the primary changes were the naming of schools and the removal of teacher email addresses. "As I read the document...I appreciated...the use of student ID numbers, but not student names. And it also looks like teacher ID numbers, but not teacher names," Yarbrough said.
Staff characterized the change as a privacy safeguard and explained the MOU will use identifiers rather than names or teacher emails for the data exchange. The committee voted to send the MOU to the full board as part of the package of agreements and amendments considered that night.
No changes to district data-sharing policy were adopted at this meeting; the committee chair noted the standing item on data-sharing policies will return to a future meeting to incorporate lessons learned from recent MOUs.
