The staff report said county highway crews began earthmoving at the White River site at the start of the month and a contractor started foundation work this week; the pavilion delivery was delayed slightly but staff said they were “still tracking towards the July June, sorry, for a completion time frame.”
The law enforcement center courtyard received one bid that exceeded budget, so staff rebid that package with bids due June 4. Staff also reported ongoing landscape design work for the Lakeland School Courtyard Project and an Arts in the Park installation that will display winning student artwork on fabricated brackets being installed on park trails.
Staff described a separate donation project from El Cornieri Middle School’s Project Lead the Way class: students are constructing six‑foot picnic tables using a treated‑lumber frame and composite tops; the project includes a fundraising component and will donate the finished tables to the parks.
The committee asked several questions about materials and naming; staff said the project team and the students modified the design and reached a compromise on materials to meet budget constraints while preserving longevity. No naming rights were approved for the student tables.
Staff also reported the Friends group donated stone seating around a council ring fire‑pit area and that invasive species removal, trail work and other seasonal maintenance are ongoing. The report included early‑stage work on a White River dog park and Price Park natural playgrounds but offered no major timeline updates for those items.
