Airport commission supports exploring Northern California Veterans Museum; planning steps to come

The Red Bluff Airport Commission on May 8 discussed a conceptual proposal from Supervisor Rob Burrows to explore development of a Northern California Veterans Museum at the airport; the commission generally supported moving the concept forward to the next steps in planning.
At the city council meeting on May 20, a commissioner summarized that presentation and said staff and the supervisor are coordinating on documents needed to advance the concept. The airport commission expects the proposal will require review by the planning commission and eventual action by the city council.
The commission also received a presentation from the county office of education about a proposed auxiliary school site near the airport on South Jackson, intended to provide classrooms and daycare space as an adjunct site. The airport commission expressed support for continuing evaluation of the site relationship with airport operations.
No formal council action was taken May 20; the items were discussed as part of commission reports and will proceed through planning and discretionary-review processes if staff and county officials develop formal proposals.
