The Committee on Jurisprudence voted to report several House bills addressing family-law procedures and remedies to the full Senate with recommendations that they pass.
House Bill 19 16, a bill described as relating to the jurisdiction of the court in suits to divide property not divided or awarded on the dissolution of a marriage, was moved and reported favorably; the chair ordered it certified for the local and uncontested calendars. Senator Hinojosa moved the favorable report; the clerk called the roll and the chair recorded the result, "There being 4 ayes and no nays, House Bill 19 16 will be reported favorably."
The committee also adopted a committee substitute to House Bill 19 73, a bill about proof of a child's parent’s identity in suits affecting the parent–child relationship, and reported it favorably. Senator Johnson moved adoption of the substitute; after the clerk called the roll the chair announced, "There being 4 ayes and no nays. Committee substitute to House Bill 19 73 will be reported favorably to the full Senate." The bill was certified for placement on the local and uncontested calendars.
House Bill 25 24, concerning recovery of fees, court costs, and expenses in family law proceedings, was likewise moved and reported favorably; Senator Johnson moved its favorable report and the committee recorded "There being 4 ayes and no nays, House Bill 25 24 will be reported..." The committee recommended certification for the local and uncontested calendars.
House Bill 25 30, described as concerning special appointments in suits affecting parent–child relationships, was reported favorably after Senator Middleton moved its favorable report; the clerk called the roll and the chair recorded the result as "4 ayes and no nays." The bill was certified for the local and uncontested calendars.
The committee likewise moved and reported House Bill 31 80 and House Bill 34 21 (the latter reported as Senate/House bill cross-reference in committee) favorably to the full Senate; each was recommended and certified for placement on the local and uncontested calendars, with roll calls recorded and no nays logged in the transcript.
Most of these items were handled with brief motions, roll-call affirmations and certification for the local and uncontested calendars; the transcript contains no extended debate or floor-level amendments on these bills in committee.
