WJCC board approves personnel actions, pay scales, textbook adoptions and several purchases

At its May 20 regular meeting the Williamsburg-James City County School Board approved a package of personnel, instructional and operational items that were presented as consent or individual action items.
Items the board approved included routine personnel actions and the annual personnel appointment book for fiscal year 2025–26. The board approved the pay scales and classification plan for fiscal year 2026 and a motion adopting pay scale adjustments presented by administration.
On instructional materials, the board approved adoption of Algebra II and Algebra II/Trigonometry textbooks and instructional materials from Mathspace Incorporated and approved AP Environmental Science materials from Bedford, Freeman and Worth.
Operational purchases approved at the meeting included a single school bus replacement from Sunny Merryman Inc. under state contract for $152,796 and auditorium lighting and control upgrades at Jamestown High School to Optech for $280,176, together with the associated budget transfer.
Each of these items was moved, seconded and approved on the record; board members voted aye on the motions as presented. Several board members thanked staff for the volume of work involved in preparing the budget and procurement items, and the administration said it would proceed with procurement and implementation steps in accordance with division policy and state procurement rules.
The board also approved instructional and calendar revisions and routine purchases listed on the consent agenda. The administration said those items were consistent with prior presentations and recommended for approval.
