District reviews draft parental leave policy after new legislation allowing up to six weeks paid leave

He said the policy draft also includes other qualifying circumstances such as adoption or adopting an adult with cognitive disability. The presentation was informational; Onofrio said the policy will return to the board for a formal vote in a future meeting and asked board members for feedback.
A board member asked whether both parents would qualify in adoption scenarios and Onofrio responded that the parental leave would apply as described in the draft and that adoption situations can qualify. No formal action was taken at the workshop.
