Cancer Foundation for Northern New Mexico seeks local outreach, financial help for patients

"We provide funding, and it is not on a limited basis, but we provide funding for lodging, food, transportation to those that are in need of assistance," Borrego said. He said the foundation has operated for more than 22 years and last year helped an estimated 350 to 400 people; in Taos County the foundation assisted nearly 90 people.
Borrego invited interested community members to an organizational outreach meeting scheduled in June at the Melissa Rogers Gallery from 5 to 6:30 p.m. He emphasized the foundation is not a medical organization and does not provide medical advice but does offer counseling for patients and families.
Why it matters: the foundation provides nonmedical, financial and counseling support that helps Taos County residents access cancer treatment in Santa Fe, Albuquerque and farther afield.
