Mary O'Brien of the Apalachee Regional Planning Council briefed the Gulf County commission on the Regional Rural Transportation Plan (RRTP) and asked the board to designate alternates for three county seats on the technical advisory committee.
O'Brien said the RRTP is a coordinated, 20‑year planning effort funded through an interlocal agreement with five rural counties and FDOT District 3. She described four emphasis areas — safety, system connectivity, sustainability/resilience and ACES (automated, connected, electric and shared vehicles) — and said the plan includes an interactive map and a compilation of implementation and funding resources.
Commissioners agreed to provide names for alternates by email within a day or two; O'Brien asked for at least one elected‑official alternate and community leaders for the other two seats who can advise on transportation needs and grant opportunities. O'Brien said the RRTP will continue to be maintained and the council will assist local governments in identifying funding programs for implementation.
No board vote was required; the presentation served as an informational briefing and a request for appointments.
