The Park County Board of County Commissioners voted May 20 to sign an ownership agreement with the Livingston Roundup Association that formalizes joint ownership of a John Deere tractor used at the fairgrounds.
Morgan, a representative from the fairgrounds, explained the agreement lays out shared responsibilities for fuel and routine maintenance costs, specifies that each party pays operating expenses while using the tractor, allows the county to rent the tractor to other user groups per event, and requires regular inspections and appropriate use. The agreement also includes a right to renegotiate terms as needed.
Commissioners and fairgrounds staff said the partnership had worked on a handshake basis previously; the written agreement clarifies responsibilities and helps ensure proper upkeep. Commissioner Wallace said the agreement “clearly lays out each party's responsibilities” and supports continued cooperative use of the equipment. The motion to sign the Livingston Roundup Association ownership agreement for shared equipment passed by vote during the consent/action section of the meeting.
No change to county budgeting or capital ownership beyond the agreement text was described at the meeting. The agreement formalizes practices for joint use and cost-sharing between Park County and the Livingston Roundup Association.
