Park County updates senior network technician job to include cybersecurity training officer duties, approves internal posting

The Park County Board of County Commissioners on May 20 approved an updated job description for the senior network technician to include cybersecurity training officer responsibilities and authorized an internal posting for the vacancy.
Erica Hoffman, the county’s IT/GIS director, told the commission the position’s duties had not been updated since 2017 and that new responsibilities for cybersecurity vulnerability mitigation justify a grade increase from 16 to 18. Hoffman said she worked with human resources and external comparisons to evaluate the position and recommended the upgrade.
Commissioners and other officials emphasized the county’s reliance on IT services and the importance of cybersecurity. Commissioner Vermillion noted the office is short one staff member and praised the IT team’s role in maintaining county operations. Commissioner Walz moved to approve the updated job description, the grade change and to post the position internally; the motion was seconded and carried.
The county and city share funding for the position (discussed as a 50/50 arrangement in the meeting). Hoffman said the department had worked with Westaff for market comparisons and that the position review used a point system. The commission approved the posting and upgrade so the county can fill the vacancy internally before seeking external candidates if needed.
