Committee hears proposal for middle school baseball; asks for August update

Athletic Director Mr. Peters said he received a written proposal that morning and that the program would be a spring sport, typically playing about 10 to 12 games. "It would not come into effect until, like, next March," Peters said, giving the district time to investigate logistics. Committee members noted the program was not budgeted in the current year; Tracy said if the team were to start in the 2025‑26 school year, uniforms, coaching stipends and other costs were not included in the current budget.
The proposal’s authors identified multiple field options in the area and suggested using portable mounds or existing baseball fields; Peters said some district sites currently host junior‑varsity games. Committee members asked that proposal authors return with a timeline, cost estimates and possible grant sources. The committee agreed to request an update in August so the district can assess feasibility and budget implications before making a formal recommendation to the board.
