A city finance presenter said the net estimated taxable value for the city of Alice is $956,370,796, noting the appraisal district will certify final values in July. The calendar item is informational; staff asked councilmembers to identify dates they cannot attend so meetings and hearings can be scheduled per statutory notice requirements.
Finance staff also delivered April month-end figures: general fund revenues of $7,829,944; property-tax budget of $1,859,446 with year-to-date collections of $2,769,016; and sales-tax receipts shown in arrears with March collections noted at $648,740. Staff said overall expenditures were $7,658,253 (about 54% of budget) and presented fund balances for enterprise funds, including a positive golf-course fund balance.
Councilmembers asked clarifying questions about specific line items, reimbursements, and grant-funded expenses; finance staff said some reimbursements had already been received and that department budget submissions were still in process ahead of the summer workshops. No formal council action was taken; staff will proceed with scheduled budget workshops and return to council with finalized budget books.
