The proclamation noted the 50th anniversary EMS Week theme, "We Care for Everyone," and thanked emergency physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, first responders, educators and administrators for continuing education and specialized training, Kautz said when reading the proclamation.
The council packet language emphasized that the emergency medical service system operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to serve residents. The proclamation was presented to Burnsville Fire leadership at the dais; the fire chief and assistant fire chief accepted on behalf of the department. No formal vote or ordinance was required for the ceremonial proclamation.
The recognition was purely ceremonial: the council read the proclamation, presented it to fire officials and took photographs. The proclamation text and presentation took place during the announcements portion of the meeting.
