Sheriff's lieutenant reports patrol statistics; council and residents flag speeding, e-bike and golf-cart concerns

Lieutenant Boucher of the Davis County Sheriff’s Office provided a first-quarter staffing and patrol overview and noted recent patrol hours and incident trends at the Brew Heights City Council meeting.
Lieutenant Boucher said the patrols had averaged about “13.4 hours,” and he summarized recent dispatch and patrol activity for the quarter. He also relayed a resident complaint about speeding on 1800 East and another concern that stretched “up Terrace Drive.”
Council Member Eileen Moss and other speakers raised recurring safety concerns about electric bicycles, golf carts and scooter use without helmets. Jeff, who identified himself during public comment, told the council that Farmington City has published a model policy that “very distinctly identifies what each 1 of those things are and, what they allow in their city, in their city parks, on the trails, on the streets.” He said he would bring that Farmington policy to the council for review at a future meeting.
Council members and sheriff’s representatives discussed enforcement and public education; no formal ordinance or policy was proposed or adopted at the meeting. The council did not assign a formal follow-up task or set a timetable in the public record other than Mr. Jeff’s offer to present Farmington’s policy.
