Commissioners discussed the site's context and whether a commercial designation would create a noncontiguous zoning pocket; staff noted the request aligns with adjacent commercial uses in that section of the block.
After public comment and discussion, the commission moved to approve Rezone 2025‑06‑02 changing the property to C‑1. The vote was recorded as unanimous. The approval allows the applicant to pursue building plans and commercial permits; any site plan, building‑code, or occupancy approvals will be handled subsequently by city staff.
No objections were recorded in advance of the hearing according to staff.
