City staff recommend integrated time clocks and expanded pre‑hire screening; contracts to follow

City staff briefed council Tuesday on two human-resources items: a recommendation to purchase time clocks that integrate with the city’s Munis payroll system, and a proposal to move to a more comprehensive pre‑hire screening program through Accurate Background.
HR staff described how the new time clocks would accept existing key-fob credentials and automatically feed clock-in and clock-out data into Munis, eliminating the current process of manually downloading time-clock data and rekeying it for more than 350 employees. The staff member recommended bringing contracts for Accurate Background and subsequent purchase authorization for the time clocks to council in the coming weeks.
"Integration with Munis will be a huge upgrade and a time saver for our staff, and it will prevent a lot of human error that currently exists," a staff member said. The presentation included pricing information for both the time clocks and the background-screening service in the meeting packet.
Council asked clarifying questions about procurement and contract timing but did not take formal action during the meeting. City staff said they will return with contract documents and recommended motions for approval at a future council meeting.
