Residents raise sightline and hill-safety concerns; staff to follow up

During citizens’ comments at the May 20 meeting, resident Johnny Doddle said sightlines at the Martin Luther King Drive and Jordan Street turn are hazardous, telling the council: “When you try to get on, the trees, you can't see. You have to come all the way out into the road and that's kind of hazardous.”
City staff noted the concern and said they would follow up: “We have taken notes of that and I was noticing the interim city engineer was also making notes and we will follow-up on that,” the city manager said. A council member who had inspected the location confirmed the problem: “She is correct. It's sort of hard to see once you come out to get on Martin Luther King.”
Separately, a council member raised safety concerns about a steep hill near Frasier Street and Bragg Avenue that limits visibility when making left turns, saying the hill is “getting more and more dangerous” and suggesting the city explore options such as trimming or grading. Council asked staff to consider potential remedies and to follow up with the affected residents.
