Council approves several conditional uses, easement vacation and outdoor café permit

At its May 20 meeting the Auburn City Council approved a series of land-use and permit items after public hearings with no speakers.
The council approved a conditional use for a mini-warehouse (climate-controlled storage) at the Greystone commercial development, proposed for property at 1800 East University/ East Sanford Avenue. Council also approved a conditional use for a Hertz car rental office at 1655 S. College Street and approved Shelton Mill Phase 4, a multiunit rental development on property at 580 Shelton Mill Road; a staff planning director confirmed the Phase 4 units “will be rental.”
Separately, the council authorized the mayor and city manager to sign documents vacating a sidewalk easement on property owned by Waterview Properties LLC at 122 Toomer Street. The council also approved an outdoor café permit for AU Mac Bar LLC for Ronnie’s Mac Bar at 138 N. College Street; City Manager Cummings explained the permit was required because of an ownership change and said, “Anytime there is an ownership change, yes, anybody that had an outdoor cafe would have to acquire a new outdoor cafe permit.” All items carried with no public opposition during the hearings.
