Parks staff told the commission on May 20 that KLM House has strong weekend bookings and that targeted marketing for open Saturdays helped secure additional rentals in 2025.
The update matters because KLM rental revenue and occupancy contribute to the Parks and Recreation operating budget; staff described both booking patterns and steps to pursue further revenue via weekdays and holiday rentals.
Mike, a Parks and Recreation staff member, said KLM was estimating about $162,000 in booked rentals for 2025 and that the village is targeting remaining Saturdays through social media and local ads. He said the 2024 unaudited KLM revenue was about $189,000.76 and that staff set conservative 2025 budget targets to aim for break‑even operations while encouraging growth.
Staff described recent facility work: flooring replacement completed Feb. 14, a renovated storage shed, a new dumpster fence screen, and a newly hired event host with wedding coordination experience. Mike said KLM booked six weddings and one fundraiser in May and that Fridays and Saturdays are the venue's primary revenue drivers; Sundays function more like weekday rentals for memorials and family events.
Commissioners asked about open availability and whether selling out remaining Saturdays would meet or exceed budget targets. Mike said bookings are estimates and cancellation risk exists but that targeting prime weekend slots and weekday rentals is the principal strategy for exceeding budget. Staff also noted marketing steps: postcards with QR codes, paid social advertising, and outreach to prior renters. Mike said staff will continue reporting KLM revenue and occupancy to the commission; no formal action was taken that night.
