Separately, the board approved model special-education policies and procedures that had been vetted by OSBA legal counsel. A district representative said the model policies are a condensed presentation of components of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and that the documents include links to Ohio Revised Code references and a disclaimer noting they do not contain the full text of IDEA.
Board members had no substantive objections at the meeting; the district noted that the model policy had been submitted earlier but required legal review before final adoption. The board recorded the motion and approved both the contracts and the policies by roll call vote.
