Fire Chief Dane Lawson told council the previous rescue unit had been totaled in an accident and the department had been working through a year‑long chassis procurement and specification process. The Logan County bid produced a single qualified response from Banner; staff recommended approval and council voted to accept the bid.
Separately, Delisi offered a used cab‑and‑chassis to the department. The vehicle has about 35,000 miles, is a 2017 model and staff said acceptance would help the department complete a second water tanker when funds allow. Chief Lawson said a second tanker would improve coverage for areas past the airport and other locations without hydrants.
Why it matters: The two actions update the department's fleet after a wrecked rescue unit and create a path for a second tanker to improve firefighting capability in parts of the response area. City staff said acceptance of the chassis is contingent on future funding for the build-out.
