Beaver County commissioners voted on May 20, 2025, to refund $194.19 after staff reported a legal-description discrepancy that added about 1.26 acres to a parcel's record.
County staff described the issue as an incorrect deed recorded years earlier; GIS mapping and recorder information showed the deed description did not match the correct legal description, producing a difference of approximately 1.26 acres. The parcel was identified in the meeting using the identifier shown in the packet as 01-0124-0008.
Staff said the owner had paid taxes on the incorrectly recorded acreage last year; commissioners approved a refund for the prior year’s overpayment. The presenter said staff would need to confirm how far back refunds are required but recommended refunding the most recent year while they review older years.
A motion to approve the refund was made and seconded on the record; commissioners voted to approve the payment. County staff will process the $194.19 refund and will continue reviewing the parcel record to determine whether additional adjustments are necessary.
