The Twinsburg City School District Board of Education issued a proclamation honoring senior Damon Hoody and announced the district’s 2025 Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year during its meeting.
Rhonda Crawford, board president, read a proclamation recognizing Damon Hoody, a Twinsburg High School senior who also attends the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, for earning first place in the Business Professionals of America national competition in network administration using Cisco. The proclamation notes he competed against 44 state finalists at the national conference in Orlando, Florida.
Hoody accepted the recognition and thanked family and educators. “CVCC has been instrumental in allowing me to get to nationals,” he said, adding that discipline and late-night study helped him prepare. “I just like to thank everybody, especially my parents for being there for me when I needed the most.”
Later in the meeting, Michael Sedlak, the district’s director of human resources, announced Jean D. Maclady as the 2025 Twinsburg City School District Support Staff of the Year and Abigail Todd as the 2025 Teacher of the Year. Sedlak described Maclady’s work coordinating media-center programs, student-centered clubs and district communications and described Todd’s work with students with moderate needs, including writing and co-securing a grant from the Gar Foundation to launch an authentic learning café that gives students hands-on experience with orders, sales and operations.
The board recessed briefly after the awards and then continued with its business.
