Board approves transportation for summer community meal program

The San Felipe-Del Rio CISD Board of Trustees on Monday approved a resolution allowing the district to transport students who attend the Joe Ramos Center to Del Rio High School so they may receive meals from the district’s summer community meal program.
Assistant Superintendent Amy Childress explained that the resolution will allow the district to provide bus transportation for students attending summer programming so they can be served at Del Rio High School. The summer meal program will operate at several sites; Childress said the district will continue offering meals at middle schools, Del Rio High School and Lamar, with the high school site operating for an extended period.
The administration recommended approval of the resolution. Becky Chavez made the motion to approve and another board member seconded; the minutes state the motion “carries unanimously.” The board’s action permits district transportation to be used to bring children from the Joe Ramos Center to the Del Rio High School meal site during the summer program.
