Council members agreed to table the proposed AI policy update and to bring a revised draft back to council in June. The mayor said the changes will add explicit prohibitions on entering proprietary or personally identifiable information into any artificial-intelligence tools used for city business; she said she will consult department heads about specific departmental uses and report back in June.
The council approved a budgeted subsidy of $1,500 for Pierce Women Entrepreneurs. Staff said the group recently assisted with planting flowers and planters in downtown locations. The council also approved seasonal hires: a lifeguard/assistant (Avery Solberg) at $15.45 per hour and four clubhouse server/bartender positions (Halley Livingston, Cassandra Tweed, Madeline Reed, Tylene Nygaard) at $11.50 per hour; council noted pool opening is pending weather and staffing plans are in place.
Members set a special council meeting to canvass the June 3 election results for Wednesday, June 4, at 5:30 p.m. The council also approved routine travel requests and a motion to pay the city bills.
All motions described above were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote; the meeting record shows "motion carries" for each item.
