Nueces County approves Bancetti water and wastewater improvement projects; interlocal agreements amended

Commissioner Hestley offered an amendment removing specified contractual items (listed in the County's portion as items 5 and 9) from both interlocal agreements. The court instructed staff to revise the two interlocal drafts accordingly and to submit the revised agreements to the Improvement District for their approval; once approved, the county judge will sign the documents.
The court also voted to have the county serve as project manager for construction of the improvements; upon completion, the infrastructure will be turned over to Improvement District No. 5 for ongoing maintenance and operation. The court recorded its vote as four in favor with one abstention on the items as amended.
County counsel and staff had earlier requested executive-session consultation on legal matters tied to interlocal terms and agreements; after those discussions the court returned to open session and acted on the revised interlocal approach.
