Stephanie Rudolph, Washington County family and community health agent, introduced Capps as the finalist and said the district extension administrator, Donnie Montemayor, was unable to attend the meeting. “This is Miss Caitlin Capps. We’re asking that she would be able to start with a June 2 start date with the current county budgeted salary,” Rudolph said.
Caitlin Capps told the court she was raised in Brenham, is a Brenham High School graduate and a former member of Washington County 4‑H and the Prairie Hill Club. “For the past seven years, I have served Austin County,” Capps said. “They helped me learn how to be an extension agent… I currently have family being raised in Brenham, and they are members of Washington County 4‑H.”
Why it matters: The hire fills a local extension position that runs youth development programming through 4‑H, a long‑standing USDA Cooperative Extension program delivered at the county level by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. The county will use the salary approved in its existing budget; a specific dollar amount was not stated at the meeting.
