The City of Red Bank will apply to the Tennessee Arts Commission for a $5,000 Arts Build Communities grant to support phase two of a utility-box wrapping public-art project, Director Johnson told the commission at the May 20 work session. The application, Resolution No. 25-1797, is non-matching if awarded.
Director Johnson said phase two would partner with area high-school art classes this fall. Students would hold internal contests to select designs; finalists would be reviewed by the public-art board and then brought to the commission for approval if the grant is awarded. Johnson said the public-art board was meeting the next night to finalize the project theme and that specific box locations had not yet been designated.
No formal vote was recorded during the work session; staff requested authorization to submit the grant application.
