Butte-Silver Bow authorized placing on file a three-year agreement for a new data and systems backup solution priced at $105,582. IT Director Craig Germain told commissioners the purchase is being made under an existing state NASPO (National Association of State Procurement Officers) contract, which means the competitive bidding process was completed at the state level.
“It's actually a 3 year agreement. And, it falls under a state NASPO contract,” Germain said, explaining that the county is purchasing under the state contract rather than running a separate local bid. That, he said, is why the $105,582 figure was not separately bid by the county.
Commissioner Fisher sought clarification about whether the contract needed separate bidding; County Attorney Enruth confirmed the state contract method was appropriate in this case. The council voted to concur and place communication 2025-271 on file; clerks recorded 9 yeas, 0 nays.
The agreement will be implemented by the IT department. Germain and county staff said the contract covers backup services for the county’s data and systems over a three-year period and that moving under the NASPO contract ensures continuity and vendor support without local re-bidding.
