The Elyria Rules Committee on May 21 recommended that the mayor appoint Kelly Krause Meneke to the Elyria Bicycle Advisory Committee, citing her years of bicycle-safety instruction through Lorain County Public Health.
Mister Pianoski told the committee that the advisory panel — formed recently — needed a replacement member after one person stepped down. He said a number of residents applied and the committee selected Kelly Krause Meneke, who has taught bicycle-safety classes for several years. "She's been a bicycle advocate and safety person for at least a good 5 years," he said.
A committee member who said she had known Meneke for roughly 15 years praised her passion for the city and recommended approval. The chair read a resolution authorizing the mayor to appoint Meneke; the motion was moved and seconded, and committee members approved by voice vote. The rules committee then adjourned.
The resolution will be transmitted to the mayor for formal appointment under the terms of the city's advisory-committee process.
