The Cape Girardeau 63 school board authorized contracts for district nutrition services at its May meeting, approving a one-year agreement with Prairie Farms for milk and ice cream and a separate one-year contract framework with Gold Star Foods for general food and net-off-invoice commodity products.
Board packet language presented to members said both contracts are for the 2025 2026 school year with board-authorized options to extend up to three additional one-year terms for 2026 2027, 2027 2028 and 2028 2029 school years.
The board moved and approved both contract authorizations by voice vote. Board members asked a clarifying question about whether specific items (for example branded menu items) would remain available under the vendor contracts; staff replied they would verify item availability before final execution.
The superintendent or designee was authorized to negotiate and execute the contracts on behalf of the board.
