The figure was described as a mid‑point of a consultant’s range—“between high twos and low fours” (hundreds of thousands)—and staff said the district could receive a single retroactive payment covering prior years. “I included the ground emergency medical transport, and that is the additional funding from Medicaid that we're now enrolled in,” Chief Lindsey said.
Why it matters: commissioners stressed the need to document the basis for the $300,000 entry so future budgets do not assume the payment is guaranteed. They asked staff to note that the consultant’s range could be high‑twos to low‑fours and to explain whether the amount represents a one‑time retroactive payment or an ongoing annual revenue stream.
Other revenue items discussed included a property tax projection based on clerk’s office figures and motor vehicle distribution checks currently estimated at $15,000 for the year‑to‑date trend. Commissioners asked staff to forward source emails or citations for property tax estimates and to add notes that will make assumptions transparent to future reviewers.
No vote was taken; staff agreed to add the requested notes and to confirm timing and recurring status for the Medicaid payment before the budget is finalized.
