The Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety on May 20 approved adding a contract amendment to the agenda and then approved the amended agreement for window restoration work at the memorial center. The amendment clarifies travel-pay language and authorizes reimbursement for contractor housing and utilities during the project.
A resident requested the amendment during public comment and said the change was to clarify payment procedures so the Clerk-Treasurer’s office would be comfortable processing payments. At the meeting staff read the original contract language for Section 4 (hourly rate and travel expenses) and described the added language: travel time will be billed at an hourly rate plus mileage, and “Contractor will also be reimbursed for housing plus utilities until completion of contract.” The contractor is renting in Logan Square and is commuting home on weekends, the presenter said.
Staff said the additional language is intended to provide clarity for the Clerk-Treasurer and to avoid issues if the State Board of Accounts audits the payments. Deputy Mayor Jacob Ponceau moved to add the amendment to new business; the board then approved the amended contract for the memorial center windows. Board members voted yes: Jacob Ponceau and Levi Jones.
The amendment does not change the total contract price on the record; staff said the housing and utility reimbursements were part of the original total estimate and the added language simply specifies how internal payment processing will occur.
