The Nantucket Select Board on May 21 approved several routine items including treasury warrants for May 21 and two personnel reappointments, and heard a committee report that an RFP for the African American House investigative committee was posted.
The board approved the warrant for payment of town bills for May 21 after a motion by Select Board member Malcolm and a second by Select Board member Matt. The chair called the vote and the board recorded the outcome as "Aye" with the meeting minutes noting the vote was unanimous, 4-0. The chair also announced Select Board member Holgate was not present at the meeting.
The town clerk requested reappointments: Michael Day as a constable and Carolyn Gold as a registrar of voters. The clerk noted constable appointments are made pursuant to MGL Chapter 41, sections 91a and 91b. The board approved both reappointments by voice vote; the meeting record shows the motions passed unanimously, 4-0.
In committee reports, a member of the African American House investigative committee said the committee had completed an RFP with help from finance staff and that the RFP was officially posted that day. The committee report did not require a board vote; it was recorded as an informational update.
Town offices will be closed Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day, and staff noted a published "finding of no significant impact" (FONSI) from the environmental assessment process for an offshore water drilling project was being added to the meeting packet as a PDF and to the minutes for public access.
Votes at the meeting were recorded as unanimous where noted; one Select Board member was absent for the session.
