Board clears path to sell old transportation facility after competitive bids

The Lebanon Community School Corporation board authorized the administration May 20 to proceed with the sale process for the district’s existing transportation facility after the district received multiple bids above the appraised value.

Mister Dennis, a district staff member, told the board that the facility had been appraised at $339,000 and that the administration received 10 bids, all higher than the appraised amount. "The bid I want to share with the board to authorize me to engage in the sales process comes to us from a local business… Anytime Out House LLC. They're offering the amount of $751,000," Dennis said.

During discussion a question arose about the buyer’s proposed closing date; Dennis said the company initially submitted a conflicting timeline by mistake and later clarified it would accept a closing as late as Nov. 1, 2025, and that the district anticipates closing earlier, most likely mid- to late July. The board voted to authorize the administration to continue the sale process with the winning bidder’s offer as presented.

Why it matters: selling the older transportation property will allow the district to monetize an asset it no longer needs after building a new transportation facility. The district’s posting and bid materials required not to accept offers below the appraised value, and administration materials showed strong local interest with 10 bids above appraisal.

Next steps: administration will continue with the process required by Indiana law for public land sales and return to the board with closing documents and timeline details.
