County Attorney summarized due diligence findings and presented a proposed settlement statement that set the sale price at $689,800 with closing costs and title-related fees bringing the county’s expected total to about $694,512; the attorney recommended a $695,000 authorization to allow closing without delay. "At this point, I would recommend that the board approve staff moving forward with the purchase of this property in an amount not to exceed $695,000," the county attorney told supervisors.
The property owner, identified in the meeting as Mr. Sears, offered the parcels, and the facilities committee had recommended the acquisition as a site for county equipment storage and potential future expansion. Supervisors discussed options for storing landfill equipment, creating a centralized maintenance location and adapting buildings for office space or other county needs. The board voted to authorize the purchase and proceed to closing; staff will finalize the settlement statement and complete the acquisition.
The board did not adopt an exact funding source in the motion but directed staff to complete the acquisition and close within the approved not-to-exceed amount. The county attorney and facilities committee indicated the property would provide room for storage and future county facility expansion close to existing county operations.
